What Is A "Certified" Pre-Owned Car?

Have you ever wondered what is a certified pre-owned car? Is it a good deal? Or, how is a certified pre-owned car different from just a "used" car? Let’s explore in detail the characteristics and benefits that pre-owned vehicles offer to their new potential owners.

If a vehicle is in good condition and meets a set of criteria that ensures it has been properly cared for and maintained, a manufacturer may certify it.  Certified pre-owned cars, or CPO for short, undergo very rigorous inspection processes that determine if the quality of a pre-owned vehicle is up to the manufacturer’s standards.
Benefits of purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle include:

-New/extended warranty (varies by manufacturer).
-Peace of mind because your vehicle’s history is free of major damage.
-Enjoying a good as new vehicle - usually a low-mileage car.
-Knowing that your car has undergone a rigid inspection process of mechanical and cosmetic items.

Certification programs will give you more peace of mind and confidence after you have made your purchase decision. To learn more about our Buick, GMC certification program, click here. If you want to learn more about our Mazda CPO program, click here.

Every Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle from Ed Morse Auto Plaza has the value and confidence you need. Contact us today or visit our showroom to speak to one of our vehicle specialists.

Ed Morse Auto Plaza's Drive For Hope Campaign Was a Great Success

During the month of October, we hosted our Drive For Hope campaign. We teamed up with My Hope Chest to raise funds to support breast cancer survivors and a portion of each vehicle sale was donated to this great cause. Each purchase helped us in giving the gift of hope and healing to a woman waiting for breast reconstruction surgery. Because of the great support the campaign received, we were able to make a donation for $32,850.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for allowing us to make of this campaign a great success and helping us change lives! Here's a great picture of the moment when the donation check was unveiled at our Ed Morse Auto Plaza location in Port Richey.

The Top 5 Advantages of Leasing a Vehicle

This is the last post of our three-part blog series that focuses on helping you understand the advantages of all the vehicle buying options available for you. Leasing can be considered as another form of new-car financing, here are the top five advantages of leasing a vehicle:

New Car Smell
When you are leasing your vehicle, that new car smell that you enjoy so much never leaves your nostrils. Well, so to speak. If you are not the type of person that gets attached to their vehicle and you enjoy constantly being able to drive recent vehicle models, leasing is the right decision for you.

Upgrading
You might be able to enjoy a higher-priced, better-equipped vehicle when you are leasing, with features that you may not be able to afford when you are buying.

The 2016 GMC Acadia has a 5 star safety rating and
is one of the safest vehicles you can buy.
Technology
Leasing the latest vehicle models will allow you to enjoy the latest and greatest technology and safety features available on the market.

Financing
It is common for you to be able to find a vehicle where the downpayment to lease is very low in comparison to the downpayment needed to buy. Also, make sure you visit a dealership that offers great leasing offers for qualified customers.

Warranty
Since lease periods are short, most leased cars will be under manufacturer's warranty for the entire lease period. So you'll be driving a recent model that's protected and you are covered for repairs for the duration of the warranty.

At the end of your lease, you have the option of buying your vehicle, returning it and exchanging it for another lease, or returning it and walking away without compromises. For more information or guidance in your vehicle acquisition process, stop by our showroom today! The Ed Morse team will help you find the best vehicle and financing option that fits your needs.

The Top 5 Advantages of Buying a New Vehicle

Many factors and variables are going to help you determine which vehicle is perfect for you and your family. When you are looking to lease a new vehicle or purchase a certified pre-owned, used or new car, you should first define what you are looking for in a car and examine your priorities so you can get a great deal on the vehicle that you want.

In this second part of our three-part series, we are going to explore the top five advantages of buying a new vehicle:

Made for You
When you are buying a new vehicle, the dealer can search for one with the right combination of features and exterior and interior options that fit your needs.

Clean History and Warranty
A new car comes with a clean history and is free of any wear and tear. Plus, when you purchase a new vehicle, you will get the manufacturer’s warranty.

Latest Tech
You will be able to enjoy the latest technology that has been incorporated into newer vehicles and the most recent models. If you want the latest innovations in multimedia and navigation, a recent model is the right choice for you.
2016 Mazda CX-3 Interior
Safety
Vehicle safety laws have become stricter, so automakers have changed the way vehicles are built and the safety systems with which they are equipped. Also, some safety features that are not mandated, like blind-spot monitoring systems, adaptive cruise control, brake assist and side curtain airbags are becoming more prevalent on less expensive vehicles.

Higher Fuel Efficiency and Lower Emissions
Nowadays, most cars are manufactured with the latest innovations and are more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly without compromising performance.

If you are looking for a new vehicle in Port Richey or the surrounding areas, we invite you to stop by our showroom today and speak with one of our vehicle specialists. They will help you find a great vehicle that fits your needs and your budget.

Stay tuned for the third and last part of this series, where we are going to explore the benefits of leasing a vehicle.

The Top 5 Advantages of Buying A Used Vehicle

There are a lot of important details to consider when you are in the process of acquiring a new vehicle. To better guide you in your purchase process, Ed Morse Auto Plaza developed a three-part blog series that explains the advantages of leasing, buying new or buying used from a dealer.

In this first blog post we are going to focus on the top five advantages of buying a used vehicle:

Lower Price Tag
The market value of any vehicle decreases from year to year. When you buy a used car, quite a bit of that depreciation has already taken place. While the value of your vehicle will still depreciate, it will lose value at a slower rate, so you are buying an asset.

Certification Programs
Certification programs will give you more peace of mind and confidence after you have made your purchase decision. There are multiple benefits associated with the purchase of a certified pre-owned vehicle. For example, you know that your car has undergone a rigid inspection process of mechanical and cosmetic items and that each vehicle is covered by a specific warranty. Additionally, certified pre-owned vehicles have no history of major damage and are usually low-mileage cars.

Acquiring a pre-owned certified vehicle has many advantages.

Variety
When you are looking for a used vehicle, you have a wide selection of inventory to choose from and you are not limited to models that have been recently released.  When you visit a large used car dealership, you should be able to find a quality vehicle that fits your needs, budget and style.

Vehicle History
Since the vehicle has been in the market for some time and others have driven the same version before you, it’s simple to look for reviews about the vehicle’s performance and dependability across multiple online sources. This will let you understand the experiences that other car-buyers have had with that car and take them into consideration to shape your final decision.

Insurance Rates
In general, insurance rates will be affected by the age of a car. In this case, insurance rates for a used vehicle tend to be less expensive. Since insurance rates will vary by make, model, year and the driver’s profile, make sure you do some pre-purchase research to get an idea of the price range that insuring different types of vehicles will cost you.

There are many other tangible or intangible factors to consider when looking for the vehicle that is right for you. For this reason, we recommend examining your priorities and visiting one of our vehicle specialists at Ed Morse Auto Plaza to find a great vehicle that fits your needs. Stay tuned for the second part of this series where we will explore the benefits of purchasing a new car.

Make Your Next Road Trip a Success

Taking your family on a road trip is not as simple as just jumping in your car and driving anywhere your heart may desire; they take time and preparation. Whether it's three hours, fifteen hours, or more, road trips can be a great time for reconnecting with family and friends, and spending quality time together. Here are eight tips for making your next road trip a huge success:

Check your car's fluids before leaving
It’s always a good idea before setting out on a lengthy car ride to do a check of your oil, brake fluid, coolant and windshield washer fluid. Checking your fluids will have a huge impact on the longevity and safety of your vehicle. It’s also a good idea to carry some extra fluids with you – just in case.

Check your tire's condition and pressure
Tires will gain pressure as they heat up and lose pressure when cold. It is very important for safety and tire longevity that tires be kept at the recommended pressure suggested by the vehicle manufacturer (the manual in the glove box is your friend here). You’ll also consume less fuel if your tire's have the right pressure.

Get your vehicle ready with professional service
If you are not in the habit of performing regular maintenance on your vehicle and are leaving for a lengthy trip, you’ll want to take your car in for some professional attention to ensure all vital systems are fit for your voyage. Click here to make an appointment with a Service Specialist at Ed Morse Auto Plaza before leaving on your trip!

Stay hydrated and bring snacks
It’s very important to stay hydrated, especially if you’re the driver. Whether it’s water, juices, or tea, having a drink keeps you alert. Bring your own healthy snacks like nuts, granola bars, or some fruit and veggies.

Leave Early
Starting your trip early means longer daylight hours, less traffic and more time for rest stops.

Getting tired?
If you are getting tired, you have several options. You can pull over at a rest stop and grab a cup of coffee, find accommodation and rest, or change drivers if someone else can take your place. There is no point in putting yourself, your passengers and others on the road in danger by driving while tired. If you find yourself getting sleepy, or unable to concentrate, take a break! It will make your drive more enjoyable and you won’t arrive at your destination exhausted.

Check the Weather
This may seem redundant when it’s the middle of summer, but no one loves driving in a major rain storm. It’s easy as checking the weather before you leave. If you’ll be driving through multiple cities or states, check the weather in those places too so you know what to expect.

Relax and Enjoy
Just relax and enjoy the drive. You may hit some sort of unexpected obstacles along the way, just remain calm and make the best of each situation. We sure hope the biggest problem you encounter is having too much fun and not wanting your road trip to come to an end!

What Is A Tire Rotation And Why Do I Need One?

A tire rotation is the practice of moving the wheels and tires of your vehicle from one position to another, to ensure even tire wear. It can be from left to right or back to front, even diagonally if appropriate.

Tires tend to wear unevenly for different reasons. For example, the weight of your vehicle is not distributed equally between all four corners, and usually only one set of tires is responsible for all the steering duties. Poor alignment or unbalanced tires can also create uneven wear.

Even tire wear is desirable because it helps extend the useful life of a set of tires. It will also make your ride smoother and handling of your car safer. You will also need to change your tires left often if wear is equally distributed within tires, which can save you time and money in the long term.

There are three key things that happen during a tire rotation. First, each tire is removed, and moved to a different position. Second, air pressure and wear of each tired is inspected to identity any issues, adjustments should be done as needed. Third, brakes are inspected while tires are off the vehicle.

Tire rotation and wear Ed Morse Auto Plaza

Your tires should be rotated approximately every 10,000 kms (about every 6 months) or as soon as any signs of uneven wear or damage are visible. This will help even out wear patterns, extend the life of your tires, and improve driving safety. If you need to get your tires rotated, click here to make an appointment at our service center or contact us at (800) 735-4771.
